Host/Hostess

The Host/Hostess is responsible to greet guest and seat them courteously. Always remember and address regular guests by names. Provide assistance with the service of food and beverage when needed.

Duties and responsibilities:

• Communicate in a friendly, tactful and professional manner with Guest, suppliers and fellow Staff Members.

• Be informed and keep your supervisor informed of all matters that may affect your work, the hotel’s service or reputation.

• Always present a clean and tidy appearance in accordance with the hotel’s grooming standards.

• Greet guest in a friendly and courteous manner and escort guest to their desired table.

• Facilitate the flow of restaurant guests in a quick and efficient manner.

• Help out servers and other fellow Staff Members when needed.

• Answer phone inquiries, take reservations, or take room service order as needed.

• Be knowledgeable of all resort’s facilities, events, and activities.

• Be flexible and open to change in your job responsibilities, and/or roster to meet business needs.

• Report all incidents, accidents and complaints in briefings.

• Handle cashiering duties in accordance with policies & procedures if required.

• Provide service to Guests in accordance with service standards.

• Know the menu/special promotions as well as prices by heart and assist Guest with recommendations.

• Know your role in case of a hotel emergency such as fire, bomb threat etc.

• Ensure all opening and closing duties are implemented in accordance with established standards.

• Check the cleanliness of the workstation and make arrangement to service equipment as to maintain a clean work line.

• Understand the Employee Handbook and comply with the standards it outlines

Knowledge, Skill and Ability

• Know your job and constantly seek to develop your expertise by participating in company sponsored training programs.

• Ability to have small talk with guest.

• Carry out all professionally reasonable instructions given by your supervisor and use your initiative in the absence of instructions (your supervisor may not always be around to you what to do)

• Be reliable and ensure you are at work on time.

• Speaks English

Education and Formal Training:

• High School Diploma

Experience:

• A minimum of 1 years experience in all aspects of customer service
