PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF ROLE: - The CRUISE MANAGER manages the overall operations of the ship and on-board staff. The scope of the role covers a broad range of areas including: the safe and efficient operation of the ship, guest services, on-board hotel management and staff management. RESPONSIBILITIES: People Management: * TASKS: - Daily meetings with direct reports - Motivate and inspire the direct reports to achieve company goals - Monitor performance of direct reports and all ship staff and address any issues - Conduct bi-annual performance reviews for direct reports - Decision making authority for the recruitment and selection of ship staff - Develop direct reports - Manage and monitor on-the-job training for all ship staff - Manage the marine team at all times (when not maneuvering) Ship Management: * TASKS: - Manage and monitor all aspects of guest services and facilities in order that it meets client expectations and the level of agreed service - Promote, manage and monitor on board ship sales - Manage and monitor guests onshore excursions and entertainment program - Assist with client's special requests - Manage on board accounting, finance and budgeting - Manage ordering, purchasing and inventory controls - Manage the customer complaints process on board and report major complaints to Ha Long Operation Manager/ Branch Director - Manage and monitor on board safety for clients and staff - Crisis management and decision making authority to manage risk - Decision making authority on changes to the itinerary in coordination with the Ship Captain - Report technical issues that cannot be rectified on board to Operation Manager  - Ensure regulatory requirements are met by the ship. - Monitor suppliers for off-shore services and ground handling

QUALIFICATIONS AND KNOWLEDGE: - Tertiary studies in Tourism, Hospitality or Business (post-graduate level preferred) - Certificate in Management - Knowledge of finance / accounting, hospitality management, tourism, geography, foreign cultures
