 Oversees and assists in the preparation and updates of the Housekeeping and Laundry Departmental Operations Manual.

 Conducts regular communications meetings and ensures that departmental briefings and meetings are effective and conducted as necessary.

 Reads and updates the Communications Log Books.

 Ensures the use new technology and equipment is explored and implemented wherever appropriate.

Customer Service

 Ensures all Housekeeping and Laundry associates deliver the brand promise and provide exceptional services to guests and internal customers at all times.

 Personally and frequently verifies that guests are receiving the best possible in-room service.

 Ensures that guest history records are accurately updated.


 Endorses all purchase requests and invoices for Housekeeping related expenses to ensures all the relevant hotel, company and local rules, policies and regulations relating to financial record keeping are adhered to.

 Maximises associate productivity through the use of multi-skilling, multi-tasking and flexible scheduling with the lowest possible cost structure to meet the financial goals of the business as well as the expectations of the guests, proactively managing costs based on key performance indicators.

 Assists in monthly reforecasting, as appropriate and in the preparation of the Annual Business Plan.


 Be responsible for the inventory of guest supplies, cleaning supplies, printing and stationary for the rooms, linen, etc.

 Carries out inventory - taking of supplies and operating equipment as required by the Finance Department.

 Communicates with and supervise the hotel’s contracted pest control and other contracted companies to ensure that effective programmes are instituted and maintained.

 Oversees the cleanliness of guest rooms, public and back of the house areas.

 Works with vendors to provide uniforms for all hotel associates.

 Ensures the proper handling and control of lost and found items.

 Conducts frequent and thorough inspections of guest rooms and Rooms areas in general.

 Oversees that all daily arrival V.I.P. rooms, special request rooms, and long stay guest rooms are prepared with the appropriate welcome and other amenities.

 Works closely with the Front Office and Engineering Departments to block rooms as necessary for maintenance.

 Coordinates all Repair and Maintenance and issues repair and maintenance job orders to ensure the proper maintenance of the outlet.


 Oversees the recruitment and selection of all Housekeeping and Laundry associates and their punctuality and appearance.

 Conducts annual Performance Development Discussions with Housekeeping and Laundry associates, supports them in their professional development goals.

 Plans and implements effective training programmes for all Housekeeping and Laundry associates in coordination with the Departmental Trainers and Human Resource.

 Encourages associates to be creative and innovative, challenging and recognising them for their contribution to the success of the operation.

 Ensures associates follow all hotel, company and local rules, policies and regulations relating to fire and hazard safety, and security.

Other Duties

 Is knowledgeable in statutory legislation in employee and industrial relations.

 Maintains strong, professional relationships with relevant representatives from competitor hotels, business partners and other organisations.

 Attends and contributes to training sessions and meetings as and when required.

 Carries out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  1. College/University degree or equivalent
  2. Previous training and experience in hospitality
  3. Be responsible and able to work under pressure
  4. Good communications
  5. Good level of spoken and written English
