Position: MEP Engineer

Department: Project Management Unit

Report to: Project Manager

Direct Subordinates: Project Management Team

Job Summary: MEP Engineer is responsible for all aspects of the project relating to services. The role includes the management of the MEP contractors and coordinate with the construction works to ensure that the day-to-day duties are performed professionally and expeditiously to support the ongoing progress of the project.

Duties and responsibilities:

• HVAC Expert, Electrical power and lighting, Fire Alarm Expertise, Energy Management, Plumbing, Attention to Details, Responsive in Nature;

• MEP engineer has to review Schedules and specifications according to the schedule;

• MEP Engineer has to manage to oversee the work of relevant contractors, coordinate with architects or Engineers;

• MEP Engineer has to provide technical advice to the contractors regarding installation and maintenance of MEP System;

• MEP Engineer has to analyze mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing engineering problems and formulate solutions;

• MEP Engineer has to plan, organize the review and evaluate the work of consultants, contractors, and others proactively. MEP Engineer has to knowledge of MS Office, AutoCAD and Project management software;

• Immediately Report the Project Manager of any technical aspects of the works that may affect construction progress, e.g. quality or difficulty. Take part in risk workshops and report any risks associated with MEP installations or general projects to the Project Manager;

• Continually review the contractor's construction schedule during the progress of the site works with regards to MEP services and report to the Project Director on the same;

• In conjunction with the document controller, ensure that the filing/logging of the MEP documentation is undertaken in line with the project requirement and continually monitor the same;

• Review the Contractor's installation method statements and coordinate with the project Safety Engineer on the official approval;

• Review Contractor's Construction drawings against the Tender drawings for compliance with the design intent and return to Project Manager with appropriate comments/approval within the specified contractual period;

• Review Contractor's material proposals against specified technical performance requirements and advise the Leader on the appropriateness of the proposals;

• Undertake general project site observation/inspection of the MEP works for Contractor's adherence to the approved construction drawings and Consultant's specification, good working practices, and construction schedule;

• Monitor and promote health and safety on the site all the working time. Record and report any breaches to the Project Manager. If required stop the construction works if unsafe practices are being followed;

• Be available to undertake off-site inspections of proposed equipment and materials as may be deemed necessary by the Project Manager;

• Undertake a prior review of the Contractor's proposed mechanical system testing & commissioning methods and schedule – MEP Engineer roles and responsibilities;

• Review and comment on the Contractor's testing and commissioning results and advise the Leader accordingly;

• Maintain an on-going list of defects for the contractor's remedial action with the committed schedule;

• Prepare draft site instructions, relating to the MEP works, as required and issue to the Project Manager;

• Review and comment on the Contractor's Operation and Maintenance manuals.

Qualifications / Requirements

• Mechanical or Electrical; Plumbing University degree in Engineering;

• At least 10 years of construction experience with working knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing;

• Good verbal and written communications in English;

• Computer literacy (MS Office applications; Microsoft project; Autocad software);

• Knowledge in MEP Specifications, codes, and standards;

• Experience in buildings, residences, offices, mixed use complexes;
