[Chateau de Saigon] Chief Engineer

The Chief Engineer is responsible for overseeing the maintenance department, the upkeep of the buildings, and all the property grounds. In conjunction with the Chateau de Saigon Manager, they must coordinate with staff members and “on-call” vendors to ensure that the buildings and all systems are maintained in perfect order and that the grounds are attractive, safe, and functional. The ideal candidate will possess trade certification and have excellent computer, communication and organizational skills, a passion for landscaping, and knowledge of Vietnamese building codes, horticulture, and principles and practices.

Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership:

• Direct all engineering activities and technical operations

• Establish engineering standards and methodologies

• Make critical technical decisions and approve engineering solutions

• Lead technology strategy and roadmap development

Team Management:

• Oversee engineering department/teams

• Recruit, mentor and develop engineering talent

• Manage performance and professional growth of team members

• Foster collaboration across engineering disciplines

Project Oversight:

• Review and approve major technical designs

• Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards

• Manage engineering budgets and resources

• Monitor project timelines and milestones

Compliance and Safety:

• Ensure compliance with regulations and safety standards

• Develop and maintain engineering policies/procedures

• Oversee quality control programs

• Manage risk assessment and mitigation

Innovation and Improvement:

• Drive technical innovation and process improvements

• Evaluate new technologies and methodologies

• Lead RD initiatives

• Optimize engineering efficiency and effectiveness

• Excellent computer skills.
• Have a trade certification as an electrician, plumber or HVAC technician.
• The ideal candidate will also have a degree in Horticulture, Landscape Architecture or a related field, or 3 years related experience
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of horticulture principles and practices, including plant identification and care, soil management, and pest control
• Ability to operate and maintain various types of grounds equipment, tools, and machinery
• Proven ability to manage staff and budgets effectively
