SHS Assurance Specialist

• Job Purpose:

As part of the TUI Group Security, Health and Safety directorate, the purpose of this job is to perform safety
and security audits on behalf of TUI, initially in relation to our owned, managed and leased TUI Hotels &
Resorts hotel portfolio, within your defined region. Audits will be undertaken in line with the TUI Standards
and support the sharing of best practice across the portfolio.
Post audit there will be the requirement to work with stakeholders to support the implementation of
practical and proportionate control measures, ensuring that appropriate policies and procedures are in place
and supporting training requirements where necessary. Where training needs are identified, you will assist
with the development of internal and external training materials and deliver or support in person training to
hotel teams.
As a SHS Assurance Specialist you will act as the key safety and security contact for each hotel providing
ongoing advice and support to hotel management teams and those responsible for safety and security
management. This role will include identifying and instigating culture changes as well as providing internal
and external assurance of operational activities. The role will cover a specified region and significant
destination travel will be required to ensure an on-site presence. There may at times, also be an expectation
to travel outside of this region or country to support other team members.
As part of the TUI Assurance team, there will be an expectation to build and maintain strong relationships
with stakeholders throughout the risk management process to evaluate, advise and support.
You will be responsible for managing your own schedules and travel arrangements to ensure all audits are
completed as per the agreed schedule.
Based on historical assessment information, you will also provide recommendations for amendments to the
audit schedules using a data-driven, risk-based approach to ensure focus on key risk areas.

• Job Responsibilities:

1. Conducting in-person safety and security hotel audits across the defined region. 

2. Supporting New Build developments / refurbishments across the defined region

3. Providing written reports for hoteliers and other senior leadership teams

4. Work with hoteliers to implement practical and proportionate control measures addressing safety and security issues identified through audits

5. Support hoteliers to write risk assessments

6. Work with THR SHS team to develop training appropriate to the requirements of hotel teams 

7. Deliver training to hotel managers and teams as required, in local language

8. Conducting and supporting incident investigation / follow up in close liaison with the Group SHS Incident and Illness team across our  operations as required

9. Provide recommendations for risk mitigation and additional external specialist support as needed

10. Build and maintain strong relationships to support stakeholders through the entire risk management cycle

Qualifications:

• Formal qualification(s) in safety / security risk management with an understanding of ISO31000
• Formal training as an auditor (desirable)
• Knowledge of hotel operations and the travel / tourism industry
• Ability to travel (this role will require travel either nationally and/or internationally)
• Fluent in spoken and written English and the local language for where you will be based
• Experience in the hospitality, travel and tourism industry
• Must be able to drive and hold a license to do so in the country you are based in
