ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS 1. Ensure that Policies and Procedures are in place and operating, or that appropriate deviations are requested from the Regional/Divisional Controller; report known deviations of Hotel Policy and Procedures to the General Manager and take action to address them. 2. Prepare and submit reports that are concise, comprehensive, accurate and timely. 3. Co-ordinate and submit financial projections as required by the Hotel Owners and Marriott International 4. Monitor business results and provide clear and informed analysis to meet hotel requirements. 5. Present and explain variances to financial objectives to the General Manager, Owners and relevant Department Heads in a clear and concise manner with recommendations for future corrective action. 6. Evaluate the impact of business decisions where necessary. 7. Liaise with the General Manager regarding potential opportunities and threats so as to be proactive in addressing changes in the Hotel’s environment. 8. Practice effective balance sheet management and ensure reconciliations are completed monthly. 9. Practice effective cash flow management and communicate all significant cash flows to the Owners on a regular basis. 10. Manage, maintain and develop the Hotel’s data processing systems. 11. Assist in developing department heads so that they may take more responsibility for forecasting their department’s operating and financial performance. 12. Evaluate staff performances and analyze training and developmental needs, including annual completion of performance appraisals. 13. Respond to requests by Owners, the General Manager, Regional Office, follow associates and guests in an efficient, professional and timely manner. 14. In conjunction with the General Manager, the Financial Controller is responsible for compliance with: - Relevant contractual and legal obligations - Marriott International Hotels & Resorts Finance Policies - The Hotel Management Contract - All other Marriott International and Sheraton Policies. 15. Prepare working schedules and annual leave schedules within budget, business expectations ad guidelines on the Labor code. 16. Uphold the Starwood Cares culture by demonstrating the Star Service Standards at all times to guests and fellow associates. 17. Anticipate guest’s needs through observation and offer prompt, efficient service either personally or through effective communication with other associates. 18. Align working practices and conduct with Sheraton Hotel Vision; consistently strive to meet and exceed the expectations of both internal and external guests. 19. Understand and adhere to relevant workplace health and safety standards. Personally ensures compliance with all relevant Workplace Health & Safety and Occupational Health & Safety legislation, and related Hotel and Marriott International Policies 20. Other task as assigned SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the manager based upon the particular requirements of the hotel: 1. Responsible for the hiring, motivating and training of staff. In addition, must evaluate the staff’s performance and perform the relevant appraisals. The incumbent must maintain at cooperative and helpful relation with all those he/she liaisons with. 2. Responsible for the computer, printers and calculators utilized in the course of performing the job duties. 3. To ensure all financial information is recorded accurately and timely in line with the hotels Policies, Standards and Procedures. 4. To ensure management reports are available on time to management and advise potential problem areas

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities: 1. Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used in the workplace. 2. Must be able to read and write to facilitate the communication process. 3. Requires good communication skills, both verbal and written. 4. Knowledge of computer accounting programs, math skills as well as budgetary analysis capabilities required. 5. Ability to prepare and analyze data, figures and transcriptions prepared on and generated by computer. 6. Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. 7. Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, percentage, and volume. QUALIFICATION STANDARDS Education Bachelor of Commerce (Finance/Accounting) Degree Professional Accounting qualification Experience Minimum 5 years working experience in the hospitality industry, preferably in the similar capacity with international hotel chains.
