Position Summary

The Finance Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations of the hotel and ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting. The role provides strong financial control, business analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and commercial support to the General Manager and Executive Committee.

Working within the standards and policies of an internationally recognized hotel management group, the Finance Manager ensures that the hotel maintains sound financial governance while supporting operational teams to achieve revenue, profitability, cash flow, and guest-service objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

• Oversee the hotel's daily accounting and financial activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, income audit, payroll, cash management, and month-end closing.

• Prepare accurate and timely monthly financial statements, management reports, and performance analysis in accordance with group policies and applicable accounting standards.

• Analyze financial results against budget, forecast, prior year, and business targets, identifying significant variances and recommending corrective actions.

• Ensure financial data is complete, accurate, properly supported, and submitted within established corporate deadlines.

• Provide clear financial insights and recommendations to the General Manager and Executive Committee.

Budgeting & Forecasting

• Lead the annual budgeting process in coordination with hotel department heads and management.

• Prepare rolling forecasts and financial projections based on business performance, market conditions, and operational plans.

• Monitor departmental revenues, expenses, payroll, and operating costs against approved budgets.

• Support management in developing action plans to improve profitability and financial performance.

Financial Controls & Compliance

• Maintain effective internal controls and ensure compliance with company policies, hotel procedures, statutory requirements, and applicable accounting standards.

• Monitor cash handling, banking, credit control, purchasing, inventory, payroll, and authorization procedures.

• Ensure appropriate segregation of duties and adequate financial controls throughout hotel operations.

• Coordinate internal, corporate, statutory, and external audits and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.

• Identify financial risks and implement appropriate mitigation measures.

Commercial & Operational Support

• Act as a business partner to the General Manager and department heads, providing financial guidance for operational and commercial decisions.

• Monitor key hotel performance indicators such as occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, departmental profitability, GOP, payroll, and cost ratios.

• Review capital expenditure proposals and assess their financial impact and return on investment.

• Support revenue management, procurement, and operational teams with financial analysis and decision-making.

• Challenge costs constructively and promote a strong culture of financial accountability across the hotel.

Team Leadership

• Lead, coach, and develop the Finance team to ensure high standards of performance, professionalism, and integrity.

• Establish clear objectives and responsibilities for finance team members and monitor performance.

• Promote continuous improvement, automation, and efficient financial processes.

• Ensure the team receives appropriate training in company systems, accounting procedures, and internal controls.

Systems & Group Standards

• Ensure effective use and integrity of the hotel's accounting, financial, purchasing, payroll, and reporting systems.

• Implement and maintain finance processes in accordance with the international management group's policies, procedures, and reporting requirements.

• Support corporate finance initiatives, system implementations, and process-improvement projects.

• Maintain confidentiality and security of financial and business information.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.

• Professional accounting qualification

• Minimum 5 years of relevant finance/accounting experience, preferably with experience in an international hotel or hospitality environment.

• Previous experience in a Finance Manager, Assistant Financial Controller, or similar hotel finance leadership role is preferred.

• Strong knowledge of hotel accounting, financial controls, budgeting, forecasting, and management reporting.

• Experience working with international hotel management standards and financial reporting requirements is highly desirable.

• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and hotel finance/accounting systems.

• Good command of written and spoken English; additional languages are an advantage.
