Golf Operations Manager

This position is responsible for the overall management of the Golf operations department. The Golf Operations Manager is responsible for the efficient and profitable handling of golf operation & Front Desk operations (including golf shop) in a managerial capacity. The Golf Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing golf operations to a five star service standard, works with the Golf General Manager to develop the policies and objectives of the golf shop's programs and implements, administers and maintains those programs. Duties may also involve the coordination of membership and marketing, tournaments and special events. The Golf Operations Manager ensures that the policies and objectives of the company are implemented, administered and maintained and ensures that high standards of quality are maintained and profitability is consistently achieved. The Golf Operations Manager reports to the Golf General Manager.

Golf Operations:

General:

Ensures that all Golf Operational staff are trained to five star, international standards with regular performance appraisals.

Selects, trains, appraises and supervises golf operations staff to ensure a high five star international level of service.

Participates in the development of the golf operations business plan, operation plan, and annual golf operations budget.

Provides regular weekly reports to the prescribed format for all areas of golf operations, e.g., golf rounds, course conditions etc.

Ensures efficient and profitable golf operations and holds regular meetings to ensure effective staff communications.

Specific:

Works with the Golf General Manager to set merchandise and golf pricing, assuring competitiveness and profitability and conduct market research to ensures that all staff members comply with company policies and procedures.

Makes recommendations to the Golf General Manager regarding needed operational and key staffing changes.

Develops and implements plans regarding club golf activities, events and outings.

Manages the operation of the caddies, golf carts and tee time reservations.

Directs operation of the golf course, schedules of play, tee times.

Organizes, promotes and directs golf club tournaments and special events, as appropriate.

Represents the club through participation in local golf tournaments, exhibits and other civic functions.

Performs related duties, as assigned.

Front Desk:

Manages the operation of the Front Desk.

Hires and trains staff for assigned divisions and schedules those assigned to provide adequate coverage for all Front Desk operations.

Trains all golf reception staff in minimum reception service standards. Follow up and re-train as necessary.

Establishes relationships with guests to promote club programs.

Sets up operating guidelines for the golf shop including merchandise sales, golf program and pro shop operations.

Coordinates all efforts with the Golf General Manager and Finance regarding revenue, expenses, budgets, gross profit margins, mark-up and inventory.

Is responsible for the operation of the Front Desk including operating hours, schedules of play, tee times, guest greeting and sales of pro shop merchandise.

Establishes control of receipts received from the sale of merchandise of all kinds & golf programs.

Provides and reserves tee time bookings for individual guests and insures the availability of equipment and services required.

Provides quality service to all guests regarding reception & golf shop matter.

Performs related duties, as assigned or as necessary.

Skills & Knowledge Required:

Comprehensive knowledge of golf club operations, merchandising, membership management and marketing, golf tournament and event organization, and have a basic understanding of agronomy.

Ability to lead, supervise and motivate a large team.

Possess good financial and business acumen.

Strong service standard skills.

Ability to relate with staff and golfers from a variety of backgrounds.

Be a competent golfer.

Understanding of the Rules of Golf, golf handicapping systems and golf tournament formats.

Ability to multi task and mange time effectively.

Excellent organisational skills and be able to meet deadlines.

Ability to work with sensitive and confidential information.

Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, accounting applications and databasemanagement software
