Cost Officer

 Job Purpose

• Studies, analyses and reports all variances relating to costs and inventory management within the hotel

• Manages the hotel inventory process on a monthly basic

• Supervises the daily receiving and storekeeping activities

Primary Responsibilities

• Ensures that all inventory movements within the hotel are accounted for and are properly supported with appropriate documentation

• Ensures the implementation of all cost control policies and procedures by all departments

• Prepares and issues various cost reports as required by Management

Administrative responsibilities

• Discharges the duties in an effective and efficient manner

• Technical responsibilities

• Verifies all duty meal’s bills, F&B entertainment bills to make sure they are processed according to the procedure and to prepare a daily entertainment report

• Costs all receipts, inter-kitchen transfers and any food and beverage consumed by the hotel employees (staff meals)

• Defines minimum and maximum stock levels, par stock management systems and to ensure the compliance with the relevant departments

• Ensures all goods received and delivered in and out of the hotel stores are properly documented and accounted for

• Performs daily and monthly Food & Beverage reconciliations, using POS-generated sales analysis reports and ensuring that all discrepancies are explained

• Performs the physical count of all storeroom stocks and month-end inventory, with final balances to be reconciled with the general ledger month-end balance

• Reports the daily and monthly F&B costs with emphasis and detailed analysis on exceptional variances such as trend of cost of sales ratios, slow moving items, breakage and loss …

• Be ready and responsible when assigned to performed any other duties as designated by higher management

Knowledge and Experience

• Has good knowledge of Hotel Operation, Focus on cost of food and beverage, Inventor

• Problem Solving, Customer focus, Motivating and team working

• Proficient in the use of Micros office.

Competencies

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.

• At least 2 years years in hotel accounting or similar supervisory role, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
