The Financial Controller is primarily responsible to ensure viability and ultimately profitability. This is achieved through managing of controls by implementing accountability over the company’s resources in a consistent, systematic and effective manner. 

The Financial Controller will provide continuous leadership in the financial area by providing Management with guidance and training in terms of:

• Focusing on the profitability of the business;
• Maintaining accurate and timely financial reporting;
• Ensuring compliance with all local and statutory regulations and the company’s policies and procedures;
• Safeguarding owners/investors assets.

REPORT TO: General Manager / Owner

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Sets up and maintaining a system of internal controls and checks which will provide the most effective control of the assets and revenues of the hotel and the timely financial reporting of the operating results.
• Maintains all accounting records of the Hotel in the manner prescribed by Centara Hotels & Resorts. Prepares all reports and financial statements on a timely basis in accordance with the instructions prescribed by Centara Hotels & Resorts.
• Must comply with all Standard Practice instructions and memorandum issued by the Corporate Controller.
• Complies with all laws and fiscal regulations. This includes the responsibility for seeing that proper permits and licenses are obtained for importations and currency transfers.
• Maintain safekeeping of all leases and contracts and any other legal records and documents which may affect the financial status of the Hotel.
• Ensures that tax matters, including both income and other taxes are properly handled.
• Co-approves all cash disbursements with the Front Office Manager.
• Approves of all allowances and adjustment, and ensures that they are all subsequently approved by the General Manager.
• Oversees the regular physical count and valuation of all food, beverage and operating supplies inventories.
• Oversees quarterly physical count and valuation of all operating equipment inventories.
• Performs administration in conjunction with the Controller’s office in Bangkok, the hotel’s insurance programme. Generally speaking, all blanket insurance policies will be administrated form Bangkok, while the Financial Controller is responsible for all local policies and any special insurance.
• Signs, jointly with the General Manager or his representative, all checks and other payments from all of the Hotel’s bank accounts.
• Ensures that all unclaimed wages are redeposited promptly in the bank account, otherwise treated in accordance with local regulations.
• Signs, signifying his or her inspection and approval of, all daily reports of operation, Monthly Financial Statements, Monthly Operations Report, and Auditor’s Check List Report.
• Approves, by signing or initialing, all Monthly Journal Vouchers, before they are posted to the general ledger.
• In addition to the preparation of all financial statements, accounting and statistical resorts and any other special reports required by Centara Hotels & Resorts or Manager, the Financial Controller is responsible for the effective interpretation of said reports.
• The Financial Controller will assist in preparing, conjunction with the other department heads and the General Manager, both the annual and revised budget and forecast in the format required by Centara Hotels & Resorts. In addition to the preparation, the Financial Controller is responsible for reporting the annual results as compared with the forecasted results.

• A degree with accounting/finance concentration
• 3 to 4 years of relevant experience or at least 8 years of progressive experience in hotel/resort accounting or related field.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:

• Experience of Sun/ Opera/ Symphony Software
• Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook);
• Knowledge of company policies and procedures;
• General understanding of accounting practices and principles;
• Knowledge of financial and banking regulations;
• Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and entering financial information;
• Knowledge of finance, budgeting, and cost control principles;
