Bartender

Key Responsibilities

• Maintains the cleanliness, organization and overall appearance of the bar area and ensures all bar equipment is kept in good working condition.
• Prepares all necessary mise-en-place according to operational and service requirements.
• Presents beverage menus, responds to guest enquiries and provides appropriate beverage recommendations in a warm, professional and courteous manner.
• Maintains thorough knowledge of the restaurant’s wine, beverage and cocktail selections.
• Takes beverage orders accurately and serves guests promptly in accordance with established service sequences and standards.
• Proactively recommends and upsells beverages to enhance the guest experience while supporting revenue opportunities.
• Ensures all beverages are prepared and presented according to standard recipes, portion specifications and hotel standards.
• Clears, cleans and resets the bar counter promptly after guests depart, ensuring the area is ready for the next service.
• Maintains appropriate par stock levels of beverages, bar supplies and guest supplies to support daily operational and service needs.
• Ensures all beverage stock is properly stored, organized and maintained at the appropriate temperature in accordance with food safety and hotel standards.
• Ensures all barware, glassware and equipment are clean, polished and ready for service at all times.
• Assists with bar stock inventory and maintains accurate inventory records at the end of each shift.
• Monitors and accurately records internal beverage transfers in accordance with established procedures.
• Responds appropriately to guest feedback, quality audits and service evaluation results, ensuring relevant improvements and corrective actions are implemented.
• Works closely with colleagues across all Food & Beverage outlets in a supportive and flexible manner, contributing to the overall success of the hotel and ensuring a positive guest experience.
• Collaborates effectively with other departments, demonstrating teamwork,flexibility and a supportive approach in line with IHG ways of working.
• Ensures lost and found items are handled and reported in accordance with hotel policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager to support the smooth operation of the outlet.

• Strong – sometimes you’ll need to lift, push and pull big objects up to 50lbs (23 kg). This can involve bending and kneeling
• Literate – you’ll need a good grasp of reading, writing and basic maths
• Flexible – night, weekend and holiday shifts are all part of the job
• Compliant – as well as meeting local laws on food handling and serving alcohol, you’ll be above the minimum age required and fluent in the local language
• Articulate – a great communicator, you’ll be warm, welcoming and easy to talk to
• Qualified – A relevant bartending qualification or certification is preferred.
• Experienced – Previous experience working in international hotels or resorts is preferred.
• English Proficiency – Good English communication skills are required.
