DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. HUMAN RESOURCES

• Identify training needs and ensure departmental training plans are developed and implemented in accordance with company standards.

• Ensure new hires participate in the department’s orientation program and receive the appropriate new hire training to successfully perform their job an ensure team members are cross-trained to support successful daily operations.

• Create appropriate development plans and develop team members based on their individual strengths, development needs, career aspirations and abilities and ensure the same is done for all managers in Finance.

• Set goals and expectations for direct reports using the performance review process and holds staff accountable for successful performance and coach team by providing specific feedback to improve performance, conduct annual performance appraisals with direct reports according to Standard Operating Procedures.

• Ensure service, technical skills and leadership training occurs throughout the department to support successful daily operations.

• Establish and maintain open, collaborative relationships with direct reports and entire Finance team and ensure direct reports do the same for their team.

• Ensure that regular on-going communication takes place throughout Finance to communicate daily activities, set expectations and create awareness of business objectives.

• Celebrate successes and publicly recognizes the contributions of team members and to ensure recognition occurs in all areas.

• Encourage staff suggestion program and other effective methods of two way communication management by participation.

• Ensure that all subordinates are motivated and empowered to make spontaneous decisions.

• Maintain the appropriate standards of discipline for dress, hygiene, uniform, appearance and conduct.

2. FINANCIAL BUSINESS LEADERSHIP

• Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive annual business plan which is aligned with the company strategic direction; improve profit growth in operating departments.

• Collaborate with Operations and Revenue Managers to develop effective revenue management strategies and set aggressive goals that will drive the property's financial performance.

• Participates in sales strategy and revenue management meetings and use financial expertise and analytical models to evaluate mix of transient and group revenue and provide pricing and inventory recommendations that increase market share and attain revenue growth and profit goals.

• Provide on-going analytical support, e.g., monitoring the operating department’s actual and projected sales and coach management team to ensure revenue goals are met and opportunities are identified and addressed.

• Effectively manage property working capital and cash flow in accordance with SOPs and owner requirements.

• Identify key projects and manage associated Capital Expenditure funds for implementation of company initiatives, product improvement and increased revenue potential.

• Use financial analysis, data trends and market information to anticipate needs, identify operating/financial issues and recommend actions to maximize financial return. Highlight trends that are likely to shape the wants and needs of internal and external customers of the future; lead the organization in exploring business opportunities that create value for the customer while driving profit.

• Identify opportunities to increase profits and create value by challenging existing processes, encouraging innovation and driving necessary change, openly share own viewpoints even when they may be unpopular and encourages others to do so, leverage strong functional leadership and communication skills to influence the executive team, the hotel's strategies and to lead own team.

• Advise the General Manager and executive committee on existing and evolving operating/financial issues and protect and strengthen our competitive advantage by advocating and supporting sound business and financial decision making.

• Communicate financial concepts in a clear and persuasive manner that is easy to understand and drives desired behaviors.

• Leverage technology and effectively uses information systems and tools to generate financial reports and provide managers with analytical support to drive decision-making.

3. RELATIONSHIPS

• Provide all departments heads with timely, friendly and professional services.

• Establish effective communication between departments.

• Operate in compliance with all local and state laws.

4. FINANCIAL & ACCOUNTING MANAGEMENT

• Assist the Fixed Asset Manager in securing the assets of the Hotel.

• Assist the owning company in creating and implementing Policy and Procedures that will ensure maximum revenue and minimum expenses, thereby affecting the profitability of the Hotel.

• Actively provide support for employees directly involved in the accounting function.

• Maintain the general ledger and possess a complete understanding and working knowledge of all hotel operations and finances.

• Prepare the monthly financial statements, which is a major responsibility of this position.

• Perform the basic day-to-day accounting functions that result in preparing daily, weekly and monthly financial and statistical information.

• Provide guidelines of all procedures and operations within the finance department.

• Review the quality of work originating from the areas supervised for accuracy, quality and timeliness.

• Reconcile all balance sheet accounts monthly.

• Reconcile bank accounts within a certain number of working days of receipt of the bank statement.

• Oversee Income Audit, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable sections.

• Perform surprise and monthly House Bank audits.

• Perform other duties assigned by Management.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

1. At least 06 years’ experience in Hotel industry with a minimum of 3 years in a similar position.

2. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/ Finance (CPA or ACCA preferred).

3. Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.

4. Proficiency in using Microsoft Office, Excel.

5. Experience with creating financial statements.

6. Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year end close process.

7. Excellent accounting software user with administration skills.

8. Ability to delegate and simplify all tasks to the subordinates and be able to do the prompt decision making and ability to analyze finance reports, planning, organizing, motivating, controlling and truth person to be succeeded in this position.

9. Good command of English (Written and Verbal).
