Responsible for leading the Events team to ensure the successful planning, coordination, and execution of all meetings, conferences, weddings, social events, and catering functions. The Event Manager oversees event planning processes, monitors service delivery standards, manages client relationships, drives guest satisfaction, and maximizes revenue opportunities while maintaining operational excellence.
Assist management in hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, disciplining, and motivating and coaching employees; and serve as a role model and first point of contact for the Guarantee of Fair Treatment/Open Door Policy process. Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures, report accidents and injuries, and complete safety training and certifications. Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional, maintain confidentiality of proprietary information, protect company assets, and visually inspect tools, equipment, or machines. Welcome and acknowledge all guests in accordance with company standards, anticipate and address guests’ service needs, and thank them with genuine appreciation. Speak with others using clear and professional language, prepare and review written documents accurately and completely, and answer telephones using appropriate etiquette. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, support the team to reach common goals, and listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees. Ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than 50 pounds without assistance.
CRITICAL TASKS
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Event Planning & Coordination
• Review, approve, and ensure accuracy of all BEOs and event documentation prepared by Event Executives/Coordinators.
• Monitor upcoming events and ensure planning timelines, client communications, deposits, and operational requirements are completed on schedule.
• Conduct client site inspections, planning meetings, and pre-event discussions to confirm event requirements.
• Coordinate closely with Operations, Culinary, Stewarding, Front Office, Finance, and external vendors to ensure seamless event execution.
• Ensure room setups, event logistics, signage, and operational arrangements meet client expectations and hotel standards.
Event Operations
• Oversee on-site execution of key events and act as the primary escalation point for operational issues.
• Conduct pre-event briefings and communicate event requirements to all relevant departments.
• Resolve last-minute changes, guest concerns, and operational challenges promptly and professionally.
• Ensure all event details are delivered according to contract, BEO, and guest expectations.
Team Leadership & Development
• Supervise, coach, and support Event Executives and Coordinators in their daily responsibilities.
• Review workload distribution and ensure team members are effectively managing assigned accounts and events.
• Train and develop team members on Marriott standards, event planning procedures, and customer service excellence.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, performance reviews, and development planning for the Events team.
Client Relationship Management
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, meeting planners, wedding organizers, and key accounts.
• Handle VIP events, complex client requests, and service recovery situations when required.
• Conduct post-event follow-up with clients to obtain feedback and identify future business opportunities.
Revenue & Financial Management
• Monitor event revenue performance and identify opportunities to maximize catering and banquet sales.
• Review function contracts, payment schedules, deposits, and billing requirements to ensure accuracy.
• Prepare monthly credit reports and proactively follow up on outstanding balances with Finance and clients.
• Support forecasting and budgeting activities related to the Events business.
Quality & Guest Satisfaction
• Monitor guest satisfaction scores, ESS results, and event feedback.
• Investigate service issues and implement corrective action plans to improve performance.
• Ensure Marriott brand standards and operational procedures are consistently followed.
CORE OPERATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Daily Responsibilities
• Review and approve BEOs for accuracy, completeness, and operational feasibility.
• Monitor upcoming event calendar and event planning progress.
• Conduct client communications and planning meetings.
• Coordinate with operations departments regarding event requirements.
• Support and coach Event Executives/Coordinators.
• Manage event execution and address operational issues.
Weekly Responsibilities
• Conduct Group Meetings with the Events team to review upcoming business, event readiness, key challenges, and departmental priorities.
• Review event assignments and workload distribution across the team.
Attend forecast, banquet operations, and revenue meetings.
• Monitor outstanding deposits, contracts, billing requirements, and client follow-up actions.
• Analyse guest feedback, ESS results, and event survey comments; implement corrective action plans where required.
• Review upcoming VIP and high-profile events to ensure operational preparedness.
• Follow up with clients after events to strengthen relationships and identify future business opportunities.
Monthly Responsibilities
• Review team productivity, event conversion, and service performance.
• Prepare credit reports and follow up on outstanding accounts.
• Analyse guest satisfaction trends and identify improvement opportunities.
• Support forecasting, budgeting, and business planning activities.
Quarterly Responsibilities
• Prepare and analyse Upselling Performance Reports, tracking upselling revenue generated by the Events team.
• Identify upselling trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
• Set action plans and targets to increase event revenue through menu enhancements, AV services, venue upgrades, and additional event offerings.
• Present quarterly upselling results and business development initiatives

Education: Degree, diploma, or professional certification in Hospitality Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Business Administration, or a related field, supported by a recognized English language certificate.
Related Work Experience:
Minimum 1 year of experience in Events, Catering, Banquets, or Hotel Operations.
Strong event planning, client relationship, and operational leadership skills.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
Proficiency in Marriott systems and Microsoft Office applications.
Supervisory Experience: Minimum 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role
